Ayurveda isn’t something new, it is already with us since about more than 2600 years ago.
The year 620 BC is known as the golden age of surgery.
Sage Sushruta is considered the “Father of plastic surgery” discovered more than 300 surgeries between 1000 and 800 BC, and did cataract surgery without any modern instruments. He wrote his knowledge in his book in Sanskrit named “Sushruta Samhita” and Invented about 121 instruments for the surgery. Samhita is one of the pillars of Ayurveda.
Since that time Ayurveda is known but in the process of modernization, we left our roots and shifted to allopathy for instant cure i.e treatment with artificial chemicals, which lead to many side effects on the body. But after the pandemic Covid-19 significantly boosted its growth due to increased preference for immunity boosting, health protection offerings, and treatment from the roots without side effects people started believing in Ayurvedic.
On the other hand introduction of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) by the government also make the belief more firm in Ayurveda.
Quoting the research Indian Ayurveda Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of ~16.06 by the end of 2024.
This Ayurveda’s history surely tells us not to forget the roots, as it is the base of all medical Streams, and surgery today. Studying and understanding Ayurveda can lead to the addition to today’s modern medical knowledge. Whenever, however, this Ayurveda word came up it’s related to the system of healing created to nourish our bodies, minds, and souls.
